MakeHim SirRobin (This is a campaign for Britain to allow posthumous knighthood to be granted. This campaign has been started specifically for Robin Gibb, but also would extend to include such deserving departed Brits as George Harrison and Alan Turing. I know it’s just Facebook, but a lot has been accomplished using this platform for campaigns in the past, so let’s see what we can do! In addition to his large mark left on the music culture in his 50+ year career, Robin Gibb contributed much effort to causes for Britain and the people of the world. To name only a few, he was the ambassador for the Diana award, the president of the Heritage Foundation, worked with Rock the House, as well as most recently honouring the passengers of the Titanic and campaigning for years to get the Bomber Command Memorial built in Green Park. Sadly, Robin could not hold on to see the completion of the Bomber Command Memorial, much as the already-submitted campaign for knighthood moved too slowly for him to accept in life. But this does not make him, his family, or many other past Brits any less deserving of this distinction. He always wanted this award and his family should be able to accept it for him. Though this campaign was started in America, I am sure that this will let Britain know what the people want for the men who helped shape it into the magnificent culture it is today. America and the rest of the world would not be what they are today without men like Robin Gibb either. So let’s show them what we want and MAKE HIM SIR ROBIN!!!) →

RIP Robin Gibb :(

I know he died a few days ago, but I still wanted to pay tribute to a truly talented man. Honestly, I’ve heard the Bee Gees everyday since he has died. As awkward as he was, he truly had a beautiful voice- I especially love “I Started a Joke” and this song that he sings in. It’s a truly unique voice and it makes me sad to think that only one Bee Gee is left-both Maurice and Robin have died in my lifetime :( This song personally has made me cry on numerous occasions- of course all with different breakups, and there were even times where I couldn’t bear to listen to it because I knew I would fall apart. It’s just a gorgeous song, and I know people make fun of it for how much vibrato Robin and Barry use, but that’s what makes their styles unique and it has a nice touch to it. You may be gone, Robin, but believe me, your music will always live on :)

Wrack My Brain: It’s sad how Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees died recently, yet no-one... →

comeonandkickme:

It’s sad how Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees died recently, yet no-one seemed to care. The Bee Gees were among the most successful bands of all time, and it’s sad that not many people give them the respect they deserve these days. If I was to look back at chart music, I would say disco was the last…

me-im-a-dreamer:

This^^^ and also it seems like when Whitney Houston died people took more notice and talk more about it although yes she was a great musician and yes she died unexpectantly, Robin Gibb was/is a legend as is of course the Bee Gees so I expected much more hype when news of his passing was heard..Quite sad really, we worry about todays singers/songwriter that probably wont last 10years in the music industry but when someone dies whose a musical legend and career has been 5decades long we dont give it the attention it deserves and the attention the man deserves
